Local Student Edits Photos to Make Pictures Perfect
PROVO, Utah, Feb. 6, 2003 -- Does everyone look great in your family picture except you? Did someone ruin one of your pictures? Did your son or daughter miss an important family event while away at college, in the services, or on a mission?
FixaPicture.com can change facial expressions, remove distracting objects and flaws, restore torn or faded pictures, and even insert people "seamlessly." Major, creative photo reconstruction, as well as traditional image correction, is the focus of the newly started Internet business.
Stephen Hunt, owner of FixaPicture.com, is a BYU junior from Rexburg, Idaho, majoring in pre-management. Hunt deferred his studies this semester to start the online photo-editing service.
"When my brother missed my wedding because he was in Argentina, I added him to the family picture," Hunt said of how he got the idea for FixaPicture.com. "My family was amazed at how good it looks. They thought others might need the same service, and they encouraged me to start a business."
Since last April, Hunt has been making pictures "perfect" for his family and extended family. "I've even taken out freckles, pimples, and braces, and straightened people's teeth," he explained.
Most of what Hunt has done is currently featured on the FixaPicture.com web site.
According to the web site, FixaPicture.com does everything from creating silly gag photos to "seamlessly" inserting people. They can also touch-up a picture (remove scratches, red-eye, and glasses glare) to make the photo "picture perfect."
When the editing job is done, the customer can approve of the work or ask for further changes. FixaPicture.com guarantees the satisfaction of all its customers.
According to Hunt, other image-editing companies will restore photos and fix minor flaws, but many won't insert people or get very creative. None of them focus on inserting people.
"When some companies try to get creative, they either charge too much, or the added people look 'cut-out,' with a line of discoloration around them," he says.
"Couldn't I just do this myself in Adobe Photoshop?" you ask.
"Sure," says Hunt. "But why pay $600 for the right software, $500 for a scanner and color printer, and then spend months learning to use it all proficiently? Our prices are competitive, and your satisfaction is guaranteed. You're not guaranteed anything when you do it all yourself."
While FixaPicture.com is still new, the company is offering huge discounts (up to 55% off) to first-time customers, customers with large orders, and customers whose projects are featured on the web site.
"We'll perfect your treasured pictures, and you'll avoid the hassle," Hunt says. "When we're done, you'll be amazed at the results and the prices."
